Mark Basseley Youseff, Innocence of Muslims Creator, Arrested For Probation Violation Sep 28th 2012, 10:07 Mark Basseley Youseff, a.k.a. Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, a.k.a. Sam Bacile, is currently behind bars. His arrest has nothing to do with the his controversial film Innocence of Muslims. U.S. Central District Chief Magistrate Judge Suzanne Segal said that the filmmaker should be held for a probation violation, stemming from his 2010 conviction for check fraud. "The court has a lack of trust in this defendant at this time," Segal said. The exact nature of the hearing could not be released because the federal court documents have been sealed, however, Nakoula did reveal his actual name, Mark Basseley Youseff. Youseff, who was accused of eight allegations of probation violation, and who is being sued by actress Cindy Lee Garcia, will remain in jail until his next court appearance. Arguing that Youseff was not a threat and has had to endure hardships because of the media, defense attorney Steve Seiden asked if his client's bail be set at $10,000. Judge Segal denied Youseff bail, saying he poses a flight risk.
