Lena Dunham covers the latest issue of Vogue, marking the first time this writer/producer/actress has graced the front of a national fashion magazine.
Cause for celebration, right? Or cause for celebration, according to some.
In an attempt to defend Dunham as "a woman who trumpets body positivity, Jezelbel paid $10,000 to Vogue for the star's untouched images from her new spread.
The website received them… and then printed a couple of the photos in order to depict just how the publication edited Dunham's eyes, chin, cleavage and other areas. To wit:
In the end, writs Jezebel, Dunham's pics "were not drastically altered," but "it's important to remember how unforgiving the media is when it comes to images of women."
It adds:
"Men are generally allowed to have pores and wrinkles; women are supposed to be "perfect" — a state that does not exist."
Mother Jones' co-editor Clara Jeffery, meanwhile, wrote on Twitter: "If [Lena]'s given us an image of a real woman on Girls, and they altered — perhaps without her consent, isn't that a paradox that should be explored?"
Not according to Dunham herself.

Juan Pablo Galavis has issued an apology for remarks he made today in regard to the possibility of a gay Bachelor on ABC.
When asked in an interview if the network should ever center a season around a homosexual single man, the Season 18 hunt said no... that would not be a "good example" for viewers.
Juan Pablo later added that gay people are "more pervert in a sense" and the show would be "too strong" if they were involved.
In a long Facebook post, however, the Bachelor has backtracked and tried to explain the remarks.
"I want to apologize to all the people I may have offended because of my comments on having a Gay or Bisexual Bachelor. The comment was taken out of context. If you listen to the entire interview, there's nothing but respect for Gay people and their families.
"I have many gay friends and one of my closest friends who's like a brother has been a constant in my life especially during the past 5 months."

Galavis then said his difficulties with English are partly to blame for the scandal.
"The word pervert was not what I meant to say and I am very sorry about it. Everyone knows English is my second language and my vocabulary is not as broad as it is in Spanish and, because of this, sometimes I use the wrong words to express myself. What I meant to say was that gay people are more affectionate and intense and for a segment of the TV audience this would be too racy to accept.

ABC quickly condemned Juan Pablo's comments as "careless, thoughtless and insensitive."

Asked by TV Page today about the possibility of ABC on day hiring a gay person to serve as The Bachelor, this year's star dismissed the idea because:
"I don't think it is a good example for kids to watch that on TV."
"Obviously people have their husband and wife and kids and that is how we are brought up," Juan Pablo added. "Now there is fathers having kids and all that, and it is hard for me to understand that too in the sense of a household having people... It is confusing in a sense."
The single dad then backtracked a tiny bit.
"I respect them because they want to have kids," he said of same sex couples. "They want to be parents. So it is a scale… Where do you put it on the scale? Where is the thin line to cross or not? You have to respect everybody's desires and way of living. But it would be too hard for TV."

According to a new report, Justin Bieber may not simply be a spoiled, entitled, havoc-creating celebrity who throws eggs at his neighbor's home purely out of ego.
Well-connected insider tell TMZ that Bieber has serious substance abuse issues.
He allegedly uses sizzurp - a mix of codein, promethazine, Sprite and a Jolly Rancher on a frequent basis. This substance, popular in the hip hop world, has been known to cause seizures.
But that's not all.
Bieber also pops prescription pills, such as Xanax, and regularly gets drunk and smokes marijuana.
How bad are these problems? Those close to the artist have been pushing for him to attend rehab, though it doesn't appear as if Justin is listening.
A few days ago, good friend Lil Za was arrested for drug possession (likely Molly, a form of Ecstasy) and some believe Bieber paid off his pal to take the fall for him.
Bieber has remained silence ever since a video surfaced that appeared to verify he egged his neighbor's home. Police subsequently raided Justin's residence and are going through possible evidence that links him to the crime.
He may face felony vandalism charges.
