A few days after telling Vulture he'd rather his son never date Taylor Swift - before sarcastically praising the singer's method of writing hit songs about ex-boyfriends - Michael J. Fox has reached out to the artist. "Hey everybody, Michael J. Fox got in touch with me today and we are good," Swift Tweeted last night. "Thank you for having my back." That was all Taylor had to say on the subject, which is just the latest setback in what has been a rough start for her in 2013. Already in the new year, Swift has been referred to as too prude for Harry Styles, and possibly gotten rejected by Bradley Cooper. But, hey, it can only get better from here!

Earl Weaver Dies; Hall of Fame Manager was 82 Jan 19th 2013, 15:50 Earl Weaver, the legendary ex-manager of the Baltimore Orioles, passed away early this morning on a cruise in the Caribbean. He was 82 years old. A Hall of Famer, Weaver won 1,480 games and was well-known for both his temper and his penchant for the three-run homer. He collapsed with his wife, Maryanne, by his side and never regained consciousness, according to The New York Daily News. Said Orioles owner Peter Angelos in a statement: "Weaver stands alone as the greatest manager in the history of the Orioles organization and one of the greatest in the history of baseball." Weaver took the team to four World Series and won the 1970 title. "This is a sad day for everyone who knew him and for all Orioles fans," Angeles said. "Earl made his passion for the Orioles known both on and off the field. On behalf of the Orioles, I extend my condolences to his wife, Marianna, and to his family."

Roxanne Gorzela details in a lawsuit that she started dating the actor in September of 2010. A few months later, the couple was engaged in some hot bedroom action that Gorzela admits was consensual… as long as Salling wore a condom. Simply put, according to the legal document, Salling refused and went on to ""insert his penis into [her] vagina without a condom." Later that same month (March 2011), Gorzela says she went to Salling's home to confront him about the incident, only to find him in bed with another woman. When she demanded at that time for proof that he didn't have any STDs, she claims Salling shoved her to the ground. She filed a police report that same day. "There is no truth to this. It's the textbook case of a disgruntled girl looking to cash in on a TV star's success," says Salling's publicist. "We turn the rest over to Mark's attorneys and have no further comment."

Manti Te'o Speaks Out, Denies Involvement in Girlfriend Hoax Jan 19th 2013, 13:27 Manti Te'o has spoken to a reporter for the first time in days and gone on the record: He played no role in Lennay Kekua and duping the public into believing he had a girlfriend who died of cancer. "I wasn't faking it. I wasn't part of this," Te'o told ESPN's Jeremy Schaap last night in a two-and-a-half hour, off-camera interview. The Notre Dame linebacker and NFL prospect even said he didn't know for total certainty that Kekua was a fabrication until Wednesday night when Ronaiah Tuiasosopo called him and admitted to the hoax. "Two guys and a girl are responsible for the whole thing," Te'o said. "According to Ronaiah, Ronaiah's one." Among other topics covered in the interview: Te'o admitted to lying to his father about having met Kekua; he never actually did. Yes, he did Skype with Kekua, but described the individual on the other end as being in a "black box," unseen. Numerous personal meetings were set up and then canceled by Kekua. Te'o does take responsibility for the story spinning out of control, saying he "kind of tailored" it "to have people think that, 'yeah, he met her before she passed away,' so that people wouldn't think that I was some crazy dude." Te'o received a call from Lenny on December 6, claiming she had faked her own death to avoid drug dealers. He said he responded with anger and, yes, acknowledged her existence in a couple interviews afterward because he didn't know "what to believe." "All I knew for sure in my head was that she died on September 12." Following the interview, Te'o showed Schaap Twitter direct messages from Tuiasosopo that were comprised of an apology for orchestrating the scheme.

Therefore, the fact that he reportedly got involved with del Pilar just a few weeks later - and recently split with her - doesn't speak well to the star's credibility, lending credence to the theory that Te'o was in on the giant death hoax. Chew, a Baltimore teacher and actor who portrayed one of TV's most unforgettable characters as Proposition Joe on HBO's The Wire, has died. He passed away Thursday of apparent heart failure in his sleep at his home in Northeast Baltimore. Chew, who also appeared in Homicide, was 52. Chew taught and mentored child and young adult actors at Baltimore's Arena Players, a troupe he stayed with as his career blossomed through David Simon. With Chew's help, Simon, creator of The Wire, enlisted new talent in the form of young actors who played students in the Baltimore City School system. "Robert was not only an exceptional actor, he was an essential part of the film and theater community in Baltimore," Simon said Friday via email. "He could have gone to New York or Los Angeles and commanded a lot more work, but he loved the city as his home and chose to remain here working." "He understood so much about his craft that it was no surprise at all that we would go to him to coach our young actors in season four of The Wire." "He was the conduit through which they internalized their remarkable performances." "The Wire cast was an embarrassment of riches and it was easy, I think, for outsiders to overlook some of those who were so essential as supporting players." Obama Approval Rating at 51 Percent Heading Into Second Term Jan 18th 2013, 19:00 President Obama embarks on his second term in the White House next week with a majority of the nation giving him a good performance review, albeit barely. Fifty-one percent of Americans surveyed January 11-15 approve of how Obama is handling his job, according to CBS News, while 41 percent disapprove. Fittingly, Obama received 51 percent of the vote in the 2012 presidential election, while Republican challenger Mitt Romney garnered (yes) 47 percent. Obama's 51 percent approval rating is similar to the one held by former President George W. Bush at the start of his second term, in January 2005. It is below what former President Bill Clinton (60 percent) and former President Ronald Reagan (62 percent) enjoyed at the start of their second terms. The "fiscal cliff" negotiations didn't alter public opinion of the president's ability to handle the economy, which only 46 percent of Americans approve of.

Jenelle and Courtland then confirmed the pregnancy in many, many Tweets. They married in December after a few months of dating. Evans, 21, is already mom to son Jace, 3. Rogers also has a child from a previous relationship; one complicated enough that it caused a brief split with Jenelle over New Year's. The couple reconciled shortly thereafter ... in a big way, apparently. We know Courtland has seen Jenelle Evans nude at least once, are we right?! "Check out my ultrasound picture. If you look closely you can see on the bottom left hand corner it tells you how big the baby is and how far along I am. So excited!" "I circled where the baby is located since its really hard to see," she added. "I'm seven weeks now and was six weeks and two days when the ultrasound was done." Courtland Rogers is excited to be a parent again too. "Feels great to be sober and actually get to experience all of this. Especially with my wife," he tweeted Thursday. In news that is most definitely not meant for children, Patrick Leach - the 27-year old son of the woman who created everyone's favorite purple dinosaur - has been arrested for attempted murder. According to TheAcorn.com, Leach is accused of shooting a man in the chest on January 9. Few other details, including motive, are available at this time - but authorities say they have come across evidence that connects Leach to the crime. He was arrested in Agoura Hills, California, while the victim was treated at the hospital and is expected to recover. Patrick is the child of Sheryl Leach, the founder of Barney & Friends. He is now free on $1 million bail.

Django Unchained: Pulled from Shelves in Response to Controversy Jan 18th 2013, 18:57 While debate rages on regarding various Django Unchained quotes from this Oscar-nominated movie, the debate is now over regarding Django Unchained action figures. These items have been discontinued. Many advocacy ordinations - such as Project Islamic Hope and Al Sharpton's National Action Network - had spoken out against the figures because they didn't believe it was appropriate for the topic of slavery to be marketed to children. In response, the Weinsten Company reportedly reached out to the toy manufacturer, which didn't hesitate to quell the uproar and pull the items. Only about 1,000 dolls have been produced since the film premiere anyway.
