Running for Senate in Wyoming, the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney made this stance evident yesterday in order to shoot down chatter that - due to the open sexuality of her sister, Mary - she was a gay marriage advocate.
"I am strongly pro-life and I am not pro-gay marriage," she said in a statement. "I believe the issue of marriage must be decided by the states, and by the people in the states, not by judges and not even by legislators, but by the people themselves."
In 2009, Dick Cheney surprised many he came out as a gay marriage supporter.
Mary Cheney, meanwhile, married partner Heather Poe in Washington, D.C. last year.
Liz Cheney is challenging Mike Enzi for his Wyoming Senate seat. He also opposes same-sex marriage.

On Friday, the duo attended the Ring O'Fire Ultra Marathon in Anglesey, Wales, and were all smiles as they mingled with well-wishers before the race.
"Both looked genuinely happy to be there," an onlooker said of Prince William and Kate Middleton. "There was lots of laughter from the new parents."

The Duke of Cambridge was at the event to announce the start of the annual 135-mile coastal race, which takes place over three days around Anglesey.
Kate was not initially scheduled to accompany him, but sources say she wanted to "pop along" to show her gratitude for all the support she has received.

It looks like American Idol has finally found its third and final Season 13 judge.
Following rejections by Diddy, Kanye West, Dr. Luke and Scotter Braun, Us Weekly confirms that Harry Connick Jr. will join Keith Urban and Jennifer Lopez on the show's panel when auditions start up again in January.
Connick has appeared many times on Idol as a mentor, hinting as his new status Thursday when he re-Tweeted a message from Ellen DeGeneres that read:
"@HarryConnickJr. might be a judge on American Idol! He loves to follow in my footsteps. It's like having a boring little brother."
Connick also said in May that he was open to the gig, even detailing what sort of panelist he would be:.
"I think you need to be completely honest and I think you need to be diplomatic," he said. "I think there's no reason to be mean, but it's called being a judge."

Justin Bieber was involved in another nightclub altercation early this morning.
But this time the singer appears to have been the victim.
Per TMZ, the 19-year and his entourage were partying at an establishment in Toronto around 3 a.m. when Justin exited the VIP section to hang out with other patrons.
But he didn't get very far behind some dude ran up to him, grabbed his shirt and attempted to take Bieber down.
The artist defended himself with a few kicks and security rushed him to apprehend the assailant, escorting him out of the club before any damage was done. Police were never called in, no injuries were reported and it doesn't appear as if any charges were filed.
A few weeks ago, Bieber's team got into it with someone at a club in The Hamptons, with Justin possibly inciting a major brawl.

The mystery girl in question, Lana Scolaro, confirms that the Twitter photo of Robin Thicke grabbing her ass that went viral this week is in fact legitimate.
In the photo, it appears that we can see Thicke and the young lady's back sides reflected in a mirror, with his hand questionably close to her butt.
Asked how the photo came about, she explained that she met him a week prior to the party and had "just moved to New York about a month ago."
"I knew that his hand was on my butt, but I didn't know that there was a mirror," she explained to E! News. "I don't even know how to use Photoshop."
"I didn't even know about the reflection until someone commented on it. I was just like, 'Oh I'll Instagram this photo with Robin Thicke, like everybody else.'"
After she uploaded the captured-on-camera moment to scial media, an obviously concerned Twitter user tweeted it to Thicke's wife, Paula Patton.
"@PaulaPattonXO look at the reflection girl," Jen Leadley wrote.
Those hoping for a scandal are likely to be disappointed, though. Real or not, a source says the photo is a "non-issue" between the happy couple.

Now, in the wake of Lamar Odom getting arrested for DUI, Khloe Kardashian has taken to Instagram once again and posted a photo of herself that makes no mention of the ongoing drama in her personal life.
"Omg you can totally not sit with us," Khloe captioned the photo above, which feature her and her hair and makeup team members (Joyce Bonelli, Jen Atkin, and Rob Scheppy).
The image went live a couple hours after Odom was popped for driving under the influence of some kind of substance, as perhaps Khloe is trying to put on a brave public face in the wake of such controversy.
Will she continue to stand by her man?
That issue has become more complicated thanks to the following new information: Polina Polonsky may have served as Odom's mistress AND his crack head enabler.

Amanda Bynes could spend another year in treatment under an involuntary psychiatric hold at in L.A. after a judge extended the order keeping her there.
A judge granted a "long-term hold" to her doctors, which could last for up to 12 months as she battles the severe mental illness that landed her in treatment.
She has been in treatment since setting a stranger's driveway on fire in July, the culmination of a year of bizarre behavior that had everyone worried.
Her mother, Lynn, still has temporary conservatorship over her legal, medical and financial affairs as Amanda Bynes remains under hospital care.
It's possible the former child star, 27, will not be held for a full year. At the end of 60 or 90 days, she could move to her mom's home if progress is made.
Meanwhile, Bynes' family is speaking out against a claim made by publicist Jonathan Jaxson, who is said to have falsely claimed to represent Amanda.
The Bynes' attorney Tamar Armanak told E! News: "Jonathan Jaxson does not represent the Bynes family or Amanda." This after Jaxson said the following:
"Despite some reports, Amanda is improving daily and responding well. There is still a long road ahead, and that doesn't mean being confined to a locked-down treatment center."
"Amanda is in the best hands presently, medically, and each day her condition is being monitored. There is not a set release date."
"But, with the great track she is on presently, she will be out of a lockdown facility and continuing to recover elsewhere in the near future."
"Her parents love her dearly and still are hoping to continue conservatorship after September 30."
"Mental illness is a serious problem in America, and while many go untreated, Amanda is responding and cooperating with doctors and staff quite well."
While that sounds like a positive statement, Jaxson is full of it (he once also claimed to rep Kim Kardashian), so we don't put any stock in anything he says.
We do hope Amanda gets the care she needs and recovers fully, however.

Polina Polonsky, one of the women romantically linked to Lamar Odom in his recent cheating scandal, may have also been one of his "partying" partners.
In fact, a new report says Odom labeled her a "groupie," "junkie" and "crack head" while wife Khole Kardashian was breathing down his neck this month.
According to texts between Lamar and Polina, an attorney who he crashed with during the last few months, she partied with him while he was doing crack.
On July 13, Khloe Kardashian confronted Lamar at a downtown L.A. motel, where he was holed up with rumored mistress Polina Polonsky and doing drugs.
Desperate to save her crack addict husband, Khloe manhandled him out of there and back to their home, where she begged the 33-year-old to get help.
At that point, Lamar started texting Polina right in front of Khloe, telling Polina he "f--ked up." Polonsky responded by telling the NBA star, "You're corny."
Odom then called her a "Groupie junkie ... crack head" and warned her "U might want to b careful. Narcs know. They have footage, audio n pics."
Polina's response, perhaps offering a bit of foreshadowing, was, "Stay in your lane." He shot back, "4real. Know where u work. U live. Ur parents."
Police arrested Lamar Odom for DUI Friday morning after he was cruising down the freeway at low speeds and having trouble staying in his lane.
It's not known what he was on, as refused all chemical tests. But cops cited "obvious" intoxication and believe he was under the influence of booze and drugs.
As for Polonsky, Khloe reportedly knew Lamar had a substance abuse issue for years, but the "crack" texts clued her in to his issue with that specific narcotic.
Before Lamar's crack addiction surfaced publicly, he had been accused - at length and in detail - of having affairs with Polina and Jennifer Richardson.
The more this strange saga plays out, the more we realize the extent of Odom's problems, and fear the worst. We genuinely hope he gets help. Now.
