Quentin Tarantino Drops N-Word at Golden Globes Press Conference Jan 14th 2013, 18:52 Quentin Tarantino won the Golden Globe Award for Best Screenplay last night. But, like most things associated with this director, there's more to the story. Interviewed backstage and asked if he ever considered NOT using the N-Word in Django Unchained, Tarantino responded... by using the N-Word. Watch around the 35-second mark now: Quentin Tarantino Says N-Word in Press Conference Explained Tarantino, who went off on a reporter last week when the topic of violence was broached: "If somebody is out there actually saying it when it comes to the word nigger, that the fact that I was using it in the movie more than it was used in the Antebellum South in Missippii in 1858, then feel free to make that case. "But no one is actually making that case. So in other words, they're actually saying that I should soften it, they're saying I should lie, they're saying I should whitewash, they're saying I should massage and I never do that when it comes to my characters." Witnesses inside the room said everyone fell silent right after Tarantino finished his response, with Don Cheadle later entering and breaking the ice with: "Please no 'nigger questions'. Black people questions are all right." That's pretty good. Django Unchained, of course, has come under fire for how often it drops the N-Word. Over 100 times, by some counts.
