The Hobbit Tauriel Image: Check out the New Female Elf Jun 5th 2013, 17:04 Previously, if someone in The Hobbit universe had yelled, "Where my ladies at?" they would have gotten a rather dismal response. But now, Tauriel will go, "I'm right here!" Tauriel is a new female elf created for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug to introduce some femininity into the overwhelmingly male world J.R.R. Tolkien created. The character is portrayed by Evangeline Lilly. Check out the first image of Tauriel from The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug: The second film in the Peter Jackson's trilogy also stars Martin Freeman, Benedict Cumberbatch, Luke Evans, Christopher Lee, Hugo Weaving, Richard Armitage, Ian McKellen, Cate Blanchett, Elijah Wood, Lee Pace, Aidan Turner, Billy Connolly, and Andy Serkis. The Desolation of Smaug will premiere December 13.
