Michelle Obama covers the new issue of Parade. In it, she discusses the rise and fall of her famous bangs, which became a media sensation last winter.
The reason she got rid of the trendy hairstyle, the FLOTUS says, was simple:
"You know, it's hard to make speeches with hair in your face!" Obama notes.
Bangs or no bangs, "I have never felt more confident in myself, more clear on who I am as a woman," President Barack Obama's other half admits.
"But I am constantly thinking about my own health and making sure that I'm eating right, getting exercise and watching the aches and pains."
"I want to be this really fly 80, 90-year-old."
As for milestones that are a little nearer in the future, she says she's downplaying sending her 15-year-old daughter Malia to college in a few years.
"You know, I am trying to tone that way down," she said. "Because kids are under unreasonable pressure, and it can destroy a high school experience."
"I give them as long a leash as they can handle," Obama said of parenting Malia and 12-year-old Sasha. "What I tell my kids is, I'm preparing you for life."
That means making sure her daughters understand "having independence, knowing how to set your own boundaries, figuring out how to make that balance."
Sounds like a solid approach to us ...
