Chris Brown will stay in jail until at least April 17, when his D.C. assault case goes to trial, after a judge shut down his bid to win release yesterday.
The singer was kicked out of rehab and arrested Friday; the judge had ordered Brown to stay in rehab while the assault case played out in court.
At issue is whether or not he violated his probation in the Rihanna case; Brown's probation requires him to obey all laws and had been revoked.
The judge allowed him to stay in anger management treatment rather than behind bars, however ... until the facility kicked him out. Then off to jail he went.
Yesterday, Brown and his attorney Mark Geragos tried to lobby for his release to another facility or house arrest, but Hizzoner was not having it. At all.
Citing Chris' "inability to stay out of trouble," and specifically Chris claiming "I am good at using guns and knives" in rehab, he ordered him jailed indefinitely.
So Chris will sit in jail until April 17, when a D.C. trial takes place and a jury decides if the troubled star committed criminal assault in an unrelated case.
That trial should only last a few days. Then, the L.A. judge will hold a separate probation violation hearing on April 23 to reassess the Rihanna case.
If Chris Brown is convicted in D.C. he's in BIG trouble for violating probation for assaulting Rihanna. He is required to obey all laws, and could go to prison as a result.
If Brown wins at trial, however (and he has a strong case), he could have his probation reinstated with conditions. The stakes are extremely high, clearly.
As for why he got kicked out of rehab? Chris broke three different rules, including one established just for him involving touching the women who work there.
He also violated a rule requiring him to submit to a random drug test, and talked some serious smack about rehab during a group therapy session.
It was in that session where the "guns and knives" quote allegedly arose, and this combination of broken rules was enough to get him tossed out.
Guy has a lot to think about for the next month, to stay the least. Maybe not being let off the hook so easily this time will send a stronger message?
