Taylor Swift has shaken off the notion of finding a new man.
"Dating… last thing on my mind," the singer says in a new cover story interview with British Vogue, explaining why she's taking a break from the world of romance:
"I can't picture how it could work with the way my life is. I don't know how a guy is supposed to walk next to his girlfriend when there are 20 men with cameras, and he can't protect his girlfriend because that's the life she chose."
Swift, of course, hasn't just famously dated stars such as Harry Styles, Jake Gyllenhaal and John Mayer. She's written songs about them.
But Taylor now realizes that life in the spotlight isn't made for many members of the opposite sex.
"I kind of run from it when it presents itself," Swift says of dating. "[Guys] think that they would want to get to know me, and maybe date me, but I don't think they want what comes with it."
If this sounds like a very different Taylor Swift, that's because Taylor Swift says she is a very different Taylor Swift.
"I've chosen the brave and bold way of going about things," she says of her upcoming pop album, which comes out on October 27.
"Because with this album I've completely changed the sound of everything I've done until now. So it's interesting to not be afraid of that. You know, I don't want to hurt people's feelings, I don't want to betray Nashville... but essentially it comes down to challenging yourself as an artist."
Taylor, meanwhile, isn't lacking for source material despite being single. She's simply taken to writing songs about her rivals instead of her love interests.
We're guessing she prefers singing.
