Samuel L. Jackson has often used his tough guy persona in humorous fashion.

But the actor has now taken to Facebook for a very serious cause, urging celebrities around the globe to expresses solidarity with those who have been protesting the deaths of Eric Garner and Michael Brown in the streets of D.C., New York and other cities.
Referencing the Ice Bucket Challenge that swept the Internet this summer, Jackson addresses fellow stars and says:
"All you celebrities out there who poured ice water on your head, I challenge you to do something else."
He then actually breaks into a song based on Garner's last words after being placed in a chokehold by police in Staten island.
"I can hear my neighbor cryin' 'I can't breathe'/now I'm in the struggle and I can't leave," Jackson croons. "Callin' out the violence of the racist police. We ain't gonna stop, till people are free."
"Come on," Jackson insists at the video's conclusion. "Sing it out."
As of Monday morning, his post had been shared over 50,000 times.
In early December, a grand jury chose NOT to indict the New York City police officer who killed an unarmed Garner via a chokehold.
On the past couple weeks, athletes such as LeBron James have donned "I Can't Breathe" shirts during warm-ups as a form of protest against this decision.
