Adam Levine Defends "I Hate This Country" Remark as a Joke May 29th 2013, 13:11 SPOILER ALERT: Last night on The Voice results show, favorites Judith Hill and Sarah Simmons were voted off, leaving many viewers in shock. But Adam Levine has now given fans a different reason for surprise: a hot microphone caught him muttering "I hate this country" not long after after Amber Carrington was "saved by America," as Carson Daly announced. Watch and listen now: Adam Levine: "I Hate This Country" It's unclear what exactly Levine meant, considering he made the remark after his own team member was deemed safe. But the singer took to Twitter after the controversy went viral and defended the quip as a mere joke, listing several dictionary entries in an attempt to clarify. To wit: joke-noun1.something said or done to provoke laughter or cause amusement, as a witticism, a short and amusing anecdote, or prankish act. hu·mor·less (hymr-ls) adj. 1. Lacking a sense of humor. 2. Said or done without humor. He also went on to define "lighthearted" and "misunderstand." Might the Maroon 5 frontman have been referring to the fact that his country singer was saved, while his R&B and rock crooners remained on stage? Who knows. But we're gonna give Levine the benefit of the patriotic doubt on this one.
