As widely expected, Amanda Bynes' parents will request a conservatorship over their daughter in court a la Britney Spears, according to a new report.
The 27-year-old's mom and dad, Lynn and Rick, will ask that a temporary conservatorship be set up, giving them control over their child's affairs.
Their decision comes after Bynes was detained and hospitalized Monday after allegedly setting a fire in the driveway of a home near her parents' house.
No injuries were reported and Bynes was not arrested, nor will she be charged with a crime, as officials believe what she needs is help, not punishment.
One witness described Bynes' state at the time as "frantic and discombobulated."
If a judge grants her parents' request, they will be legally in charge of her financial, medical and personal affairs for however long the court sees fit.
Per California law, Rick and Lynn would need to show evidence that their daughter is unable to care for herself or otherwise handle her own affairs.
This is the same legal arrangement that Britney Spears' father put in place to get his daughter back on track following her epic 2007-08 meltdown.
After Britney was placed under a 5150 psychiatric hold, which Amanda is under right now, her father Jamie was named conservator of her estate.
It worked out very, very well. Hopefully the same is true in this case.
Incidentally, a source says Amanda Bynes' pet Pomeranian was handed over to her parents after she was detained and they are caring for the pup.
In addition to setting her own pant leg on fire, Bynes apparently doused the dog in gasoline, then ran frantically to a nearby liquor store to wash it off.
A passerby called 911, and she was picked up shortly thereafter.
