Jay-Z and Beyonce are the latest celebrities to make their feelings on Trayvon Martin and the George Zimmerman verdict well known.
The famous couple attended a rally on the slain teenage's behalf Saturday in New York, standing alongside Al Sharpton when he referred to them as "two of the baddest artists of all time."
"Jay-Z and Beyoncé said they didn't want to speak and they didn't come for a photo op," Shartpn told the very larhe crowd. "Jay-Z told me, 'I'm a father. Beyoncé is a mother.' We all feel the pain and apprehension - the laws must protect everybody, or it doesn't protect anybody. We do not come from hate, we come from love of children."
The day before this event, Beyonce Tweeted "#actnow4Travyon," while adding on Tumblr: "Trayvon Martin's most basic civil right, the right to live, was violated."
She also shared a picture of herself and Trayvon's parents and asked attendees for a moment of silence during a Miami concert last week.
The parents of Blue Ivy are merely the latest in a long line of stars to speak out in response to Zimmerman being found not guilty.
Bruce Springsteen dedicated a song to Martin during a concert in Ireland a few days ago, while Barack Obama said in a speech that he could have been Trayvon Martin 35 years ago. Said the President:
"There are very few African-Americans who have not had the experience of getting on an elevator and a woman clutching her purse nervously and holding her breath until she had the chance to get off.
"That happens often.
"I don't want to exaggerate, but those sets of experiences inform how the African-American community interprets what happened one night in Florida."
