Chad Michael Murray peeled off 25 pounds for one of his latest gigs: playing a homeless heroin addict in the upcoming Other People's Children.
The One Tree Hill alum recently revealed the mental toll the dramatic role took on him during filming:
"I lost 25 pounds for it, and I was really in a dark place for about a month. It was taking your work home with you. It's heavy."
But Chad followed a sensible diet in order to drop the weight.
"I wanted to do it organically in a healthy way, I really did. I didn't want to just cut down to water and crackers. Every day I didn't consume anything that wasn't from God's green earth," he explained of his regimen.
And it sounds like egg whites became one of his trusty allies:
"Pretty much oatmeal, egg whites, salads, chicken, tuna ... that's pretty much it. You find ways to dress it up and make it wonderful. After a week, you can't tell the difference. You actually look forward to egg whites ... can't wait."
Chad also turned to "circuit training and weights" to take care of his fitness.
And after all it was all said and done, he got let loose on some good old hot wings:
"They gave them to me [when we] wrapped. Deep-fried, hot sauce, fantastic, waiting for me. It was actually really, really sweet."
Nice.
We're glad this former teen hearthrob took the healthy approach when it came to his weight loss!
