Last month, fans of the 90s Christian rock group Creed were shocked to learn that the band's lead singer Scott Stapp is broke and homeless via a rambling Facebook video in which Stapp opened up about his woes.
As more information became available, we found out that Stapp may be dangerously paranoid, and he revealed during a radio interview that he believes he's being targeted by the government as a result of his criticism of President Obama.
Now, TMZ has obtained a recording of a 911 call that serves as a chilling indication of the severity of Stapp's mental illness:
The woman on the phone is Stapp's sister-in-law, and her description of the former rock star's behavior is truly troubling:
"He's off of the drugs, but he's going crazy. He's on a bike, he's not wearing a shirt...He thinks he's part of the CIA, he thinks they're to kill him. He has a bunch of paperwork in his backpack that he's a CIA agent and he's supposed to assassinate Obama."
The sister of Stapp's wife, Jaclyn, goes on to say that Stapp "self-medicates" to cope with his paranoid schizophrenia and that he's been committed to rehab or psychiatric facilities "eight to ten times."
Police eventually arrived on the scene, but found insufficient evidence to have Stapp placed under psychiatric hold, as his family had requested.
Stapp explained to the officers that he was forced to ride a bike because his wife had stolen his truck. He also accused her of removing more than $6 million from his bank accounts.
Despite his paranoid suspicions, officers determined that Stapp did not present any sort of immediate threat to himself or others, and thus could not be forcibly checked into a psychiatric care facility.
Lindsay Lohan has been to a rehab six times. She completed a mandatory 90-day stint in the summer of 2013.
