As previously reported, Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon are on the verge of a divorce.
But insiders say the terms of this marriage dissolution were amicable... until Cannon ran his mouth yesterday and confirmed he has been separated from Carey for months.
"Mariah was devastated about the comments Nick made to The Insider," a source tells E! News. "They had agreed to work on a statement together. A joint statement was being prepared when he went and gave those quotes to The Insider.

A publicist for Carey simply says the artist "is focusing on her children and her upcoming tour," but E! writes that she's in shock over Cannon going public with their marital strife.
"She thinks it was extremely childish, impulsive and opportunistic," the source continues. "For her, it was the last straw. She's done with him now."
Mariah and Nick are living in separate houses and haven't been spotted in public together since February.
Some say Carey has grown jealous over Cannon's flirting with women while he travels the country, while E! reports the following as a basis for the split:
"It has a lot to do with Nick's career choices. He does not have to work, but he's been throwing himself into gigs and projects."
The stars are parents to three-year old twins Moroccan and Monroe and were hoping to keep everything civil. But now that Cannon has spoken out, according to this insider?
"Things are getting ugly."
