Earlier this week, Urban Outfitters was forced to issue an apology and pull a sweatshirt off its shelves that it dubbed "vintage."
For what reason? The sweatshirt represented Kent State University and most definitely looked like it had blood splattered all over it, a clear reference to the tragic shootings in May of 1970 that claimed four lives on campus.
Yeah. Urban Outfitters actually went there. For some reason.
And Urban Outfitters has gone there many times in the past, as this company has become infamous for some seriously scandalous articles of clothing. It's often been joined by retailers Zara and American Apparel, both of whom should be ashamed of some of their creations.
References to the Nazis? To mental illness? To... a bloody vagina?!?
Why did these companies include these controversies on their clothing? To make headlines, we suppose. As you can see in the gallery below, it definitely worked:
