Earlier this week, Gwyneth Paltrow stopped steaming her vagina long enough to take part in the Food Stamp Challenge.
Though it's been derided as "poverty tourism" (which it kind of is), the Challenge is designed to raise awareness of the recent devastating cuts made to programs like SNAP and the meager allowance on which low-income families are forced to survive.
So naturally, Gwyneth cheated on the Challenge almost immediately. She played it off and refused to acknowledge it publicly, and then a few days later she got caught cheating again.
Now that she's been busted twice and it's been revealed that she clearly had no intention of going through with this thing, Gwyneth has taken to her website to explain how she totally made a point by not really trying. Or something:
"As I suspected, we only made it through about four days, when I personally broke and had some chicken and fresh vegetables (and in full transparency, half a bag of black licorice).
"My perspective has been forever altered by how difficult it was to eat wholesome, nutritious food on that budget, even just for a few days."
Yeah, guys - Gwyneth only needed a few days to learn how much it sucks to be poor.
It was just like that time she had her driver take her through the ghetto so she could learn about race relations - fun for like a second, but then totally scary.
For the record, Gwinnie says she gave herself a C-minus grade on the experiment. (Generally, if you only make it halfway through an assignment, you get an F, but whatever.)
She also bought seven freakin' limes with her $29 food allowance, because she's somehow worse at pretending to be poor than she is at pretending to be humble.
