With the onslaught on age-defying practices such as Botox, contour makeup, and various barbaric forms of plastic surgery, it can be tough to guess a celebrity's age.
Especially when they are lying...
Rebel Wilson, star of the highly-anticipated Pitch Perfect 2, is now in question after a source told Australian-based organization, Mamamia Women's Network, that Wilson is lying about her age.
The funny girl has described her childhood as a bizarre upbringing in the "ghetto" of Sydney. She claims she was raised by dog-training parents. And after a supposed stint of malaria, the 29-year old said she wanted to become an actress.
Maybe the malaria confused her memory?
According to the insider, Wilson's account is nothing more than a lie. The insider claims they went to school together.
"She's clearly got a vivid imagination," the source said. "Maybe you have to tell stories to make it in Hollywood!"
"I studied with Rebel at Tara Anglican School for Girls in North Parramatta, Sydney," the source explained.
"But no one knew of a Rebel Wilson. Her name is – or was – Melanie Elizabeth Bownds, and she's 36 – she was born in 1979 and we left school in 1997."
The source also says Rebel never lived in the "ghetto."
Could this really be the same person? The source said Wilson has changed a lot since her school days. She was never the "class clown."
Mia Freedman, publisher and content director for Mamamia Women's Network, said Rebel Wilson's age is an "open secret."
Freedman said, "Every time that we've mentioned Rebel Wilson we've had lots of comments from people who went to school or college with her. They're usually quite irate with the fact that she's not 29 [as Wilson claims].
Looks like Rebel might have some explaining to do! But in a culture that values youth over talent, can we blame her???
