It's been four months since Bobbi Kristina Brown was found unconscious in the bathtub of her Atlanta-area home, and the 22-year-old remains unresponsive.
Shockingly, no conclusive answers have emerged regarding how she nearly drowned in just a few inches of water, but friends and family believe that Bobbi Kristina's drug use in the months leading up to her coma led to her tragic accident.
Now, in a new biography entitled Whitney & Bobbi Kristina: The Deadly Price of Fame, author Ian Halperin reveals that the troubled aspiring singer was so often under the influence that her substance abuse problem was common knowledge even amongst neighbors and distant relatives.
"She looked like she was on drugs," said a friend and president of a fitness center where Bobbi was briefly a member. "She looked very thin, very weak."
A neighbor confirmed to Halperin that Bobbi didn't even attempt to hide the fact that she was "always high on something."
A close friend identified only as "Ella" says Bobbi's drug use escalated in the weeks leading up to her accident, thanks in part to the bad influence of boyfriend Nick Gordon.
"When I saw her before her accident she looked like she was on something. She looked like she got much thinner, looked like she was into heavy drugs," Ella said. "I felt sad because I don't think Nick had her best interests at heart."
Another friend verified that Nick led Bobbi down a very dangerous path:
"Nick is bad, bad news brother," the insider said. "He's heavy into drinking, heavy into drugs...He acted as if he owned Bobbi. He had her brainwashed….Nick always got his way. She was afraid of him."
Doctors say it's unlikely that Bobbi Kristina will ever emerge from her coma, but it seems that her family has decided not to remove her from life support.
