New couple alert? Not so fast apparently.
Yes, cameras captured Ed Sheeran and Ellie Goulding holding hands at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, but the latter quickly took to Twitter last night and refuted talk that such a gesture meant anything in the romantic sense.
"I love that holding hands with my friends means we're an item," the singer wrote. "In that case I am in many relationships. Lover not a hater. #whatthef***."
Over the past several weeks, Goulding was also rumored to be hooking up with One Direction's Niall Horan, while Sheeran is friends with Taylor Swift - but many have wondered if there's more to that relationship as well.
For now we'll take Ellie's word and presume that these two aren't dating.
