A federal judge has cleared the decks (so to speak) for John Travolta's legal battle with a cruise ship employee, despite the actor's attempt to shutter the case.
Travolta's legal team tried to argue that the ticket he bought from Royal Caribbean included an agreement to settle all disputes through arbitration.
As in, without getting the courts involved. No dice.
Cruise ship steward Fabian Zanzi says John exposed his penis in his room and forcibly embraced Zanzi after asking him for a neck massage in 2009.
He filed a lawsuit in 2012, and in Friday's ruling, the judge said Zanzi is not bound by the arbitration agreement between Travolta and Royal Caribbean.
The long and short of it is that this could be headed for trial unless a settlement is reached, which is usually the case, unless the lawsuit is dropped.
The judge blocking arbitration effectively drives up the price on a potential settlement, although the strength of Zanzi's case is obviously not clear.
No doubt Travolta want to avoid trial with Fabian Zanzi, but his other accusers have been discredited so thoroughly that their claims became baseless.
Will Zanzi fare any better?
Travolta's attorney has called Zanzi's suit a "ludicrous" attempt to grab "15 minutes of fame" and says Travolta will be "completely vindicated in court."
We'll see about that. The sheer number of men alleging gay trysts (and in some cases abuse) by Travolta in the past year has been eye-opening.
Nothing has been substantiated, of course, even a little bit, so it's important to remember that sometimes gossip is just gossip until proven otherwise.
