Fifty Shades of Grey Movie Cast: Who's it Going to Be?! Jun 28th 2013, 15:25, by Free Britney The Fifty Shades of Grey movie now has a release date - August 1, 2014 - and a director in Sam Taylor-Johnson. It's just missing one important thing: A cast. Focus Features' adaptation of the erotic novel by E.L. James will heat up movie screens next summer, but it's STILL unclear who will bring said heat to life. Debate over who will play Anastasia Steele, the innocent young protagonist, and who will play Christian Grey, her controlling lover, has run rampant. As always, any news about 50 Shades of Grey rekindles the online fantasy casting game, but with just 13 months to go, they need a cast like now. An announcement is coming soon, you can bank on it.
