Earlier this week, Sean "Diddy" Combs was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly attacking UCLA assistant football coach Sal Alosi with a 90-pound kettlebell weight.
Diddy's son, Justin Combs, is a defensive back on the team, and the hip hop mogul was reportedly upset with the way Alosi was treating the 21-year-old.
Combs has since been released on $50,000 but he'll soon be in court to face a slew of charges including making terrorist threats against Alosi and the several men who intervened to stop the attack.
Diddy denied the charges in a statement issued on Tuesday, but with several witnesses saying he could have killed Alosi if he had made contact, things are not looking good Combs.
Developments over the past 24 hours, however, may prove to be enough to keep Diddy out of prison, as it now looks as though Alosi may have done more to provoke the attack than previously thought.
For starters, several witnesses now say that Alosi regularly berated Justin - maligning him as a "spoiled rich kid," and at one point even using the teams locker room monitors to post a photo of Justin sitting courtside next to his dad and Ben Stiller the NBA All-Star Game.
(Justin had supposedly skipped practice to go to the game.)
Lawyers for Diddy are also attempting to establish that Alosi has a history of violent behavior.
TMZ is reporting that when Alosi was working for the New York Jets in 2010, he got into a "fistfight" with Pro Bowl cornerback Darrelle Revis and had to be physically restrained.
No matter what the turnout, it's an ugly situation, and several sources involved with the team have revealed that they believe it could've been avoided if Diddy hadn't used his clout to get Justin an un-earned spot on the roster.
Now entering his fourth year on the team, the 5'7", 170 pound Combs has recorded only one tackle.
