Marisa Tomei Cast as Lesbian Billionaire on Empire Season 2 Jul 3rd 2015, 11:17, by Hilton Hater Empire has landed itself an Oscar winner. According to Deadline, Marisa Tomei will come on board the smash Fox hit as Mimi Whiteman, a billionaire venture capitalist who loves hip hop music, high-end fashion and women. Yes, the character is a lesbian. Tomei won an Academy Award for her hilarious turn in My Cousin Vinny and she was recently cast as Gloria Steinem in Ms., HBO's planned miniseries about the social activist and feminist icon. During its breakout first season run, Empire welcomed such big names as Jennifer Hudson, Courtney Love, Naomi Campbell, Gladys Knight and Snoop Dogg.  With Empire Season 2 set to premiere on September 23, we already know Tomei will join such famous guest stars a Chris Rock, Alicia Keys and Lenny Kravitz.
