Radio Stations Pull Ke$ha's "Die Young" in Wake of Newtown Massacre Dec 18th 2012, 11:38 In the wake of the tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut on Friday, radio stations have mostly pulled Ke$ha's latest hit off the air. Titled "Die Young," the track had risen to number-three on nationwide playlists last week, according to Mediabase. But it dropped from 167 million listeners around the country to 148 million two days after Adam Lanza killed 26 people inside an elementary school. Ke$ha - "Die Young" (AMA Performance) The last time a single fell so precipitously, a real world incident was also involved, although one that pales in comparison to this tragedy: Country radio stations yanked The Dixie Chicks in 2003 following their bashing of President George W. Bush. While it's meaningless compared to the deaths of so many, the entertainment world has been affected by the Connecticut shooting. Jack Reacher premieres in both Pittsburgh and New York have been canceled, while Fox did not air an episode of Family Guy Sunday and Discovery Channel just ended its series, American Guns. While all of this is taking place, it looks like the government will be considering a new assault weapons ban in 2013.
