Shia LaBeouf is retiring. From acting? No, unfortunately.
But... life.
"In light of the recent attacks against my artistic integrity, I am retiring from all public life," the 27-year-old Tweeted early this morning. "My love goes out to those who have supported me."
LaBeouf's reputation has taken a massive hit over the past several weeks, following a plagiarism scandal that involved him clearly stealing material from artist Daniel Clowes for his short film HowardCantour.com.
Clowes' attorney sent the star a cease-and-desist letter in response, which LeBeouf posted (in its entirety) on Twitter, blacking out everything except the words "he must stop all efforts to create."
In a wink to that fiasco, LaBeouf included the hashtag #stopcreating in his retirement Tweet.
After the plagiarism controversy hit, Shia released a long letter apologizing and later added three simple words: "I f-cked up."
But he's gone on since then to engage in Twitter battles with Lena Dunham and Taylor Swift. The guy pretty much sucks at life.
What do you think of him retiring from the public spector?
