We may never known for certain, but TMZ confirms there will be no debate over the future of a Malik-less One Direction: it will remain a quartet.
Sources close to producer Simon Cowell and the record label say the group is set to move forward with a new studio album and that there's "absolutely zero" chance Malik will be replaced.
Moreover, the remaining members of One Direction remain in constant contact with Zayn.
Despite initial reports to the contrary, there are no hard feelings between Malik and Harry Styles (who cried on stage last week), Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson.
The handsome young artist all respect their former colleague's decision.
One Direction played its first Zayn-free concert in South Africa a few days ago. The boys will tour Europe in June before hitting the United States in July.
