As other politicians attempt to distance themselves from the embattled Duggar family (Rick Santorum said he's "sickened" by Josh's actions) presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee is sticking to his guns and continuing to support Michelle, Jim Bob and their massive brood.
Huckabee - the former governor of the Duggar's home state of Arkansas - spoke with Fox News' Megan Kelly last night on the network.
In doing so, he echoed Jill and Jessa's sentiments that the media is unfairly exploiting the Duggars as a result of their ultra-conservative beliefs.
"There was no interest to make sure that their interests were served," Huckabee said during a discussion of Kelly's recent interviews with the Duggars.
"And I think your interview pointed out that they had a very different reaction to all of this than did their critics, who were out to destroy their family."
"There was no interest in the media to protect those girls."
Huckabee also claimed that police records pertaining to the case were released to the media illegally, a Duggar talking point that officials have disputed.
The city attorney of Springdale, Ark., has stated repeatedly that files from the investigation (that took place when Josh was 18) were provided to In Touch Weekly in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act.
The 2016 White House contender was one of very few public figures to defend Josh Duggar following the news that the eldest son of Michelle and Jim Bob had molested at least five young girls, including his sisters.
Huckabee removed signs of the Duggars' support from his website last week, but he clearly wants voters to know that he still believes in them.
