The Duggars are never more than an Instagram photo away from online uproar, and this time it's 22-year-old Jinger at the center of it all.
An image of Josh and Anna Duggar's 4-year-old son, Michael, and Jinger's role in it has become the latest lightning rod for controversy.
Michael, sleeping in the back of a car, looks positively angelic, no?
One would think, at a glance. Unless one were a Duggar family critic on Twitter, in which case one would instead recoil in abject horror.
Because he's not properly restrained in the vehicle, obviously.
One concerned fan wrote on the family's Facebook page.
"Please take this as advice and not judgment. I love this family and just don't want anything bad to happen to these precious kids."
"My first thought as a pediatric ICU nurse was 'that kid is not properly restrained.' I am not passing judgment. I have just seen a lot of really bad things."
"And I don't want anything to happen to anybody else's child. He should be in a 5-point harness to protect his spine and his brain and his internal organs."
Give that fan credit for dialing down the vitriol, at least.
Others were not so restrained (see what we did there?!) when it came to Jinger Duggar's apparent lapse in judgment, for this reason:
In Arkansas, it may actually have been illegal, as well.
State law mandates that children under six years old and weighing less than 60 pounds must be in an approved car seat or restraint.
Of course, we don't know if he was or was not secured while the vehicle was moving, because we weren't there, and more significantly:
Jinger Duggar isn't Michael's parent!
While she has way more experience with little kids than your average aunt, ultimately it's Anna and Josh's job to handle their children.
And, if we're being fair, by the standards of Josh Duggar scandals, this one is pretty tame - and Anna has a lot on her mind these days.
At this time, no legal action has been taken and the Duggars are publicly snubbing Josh anyway, so don't expect any comment anytime soon.
