Guy Clark, a member of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame and former Grammy Award winner, died on Tuesday in Tennessee.
He was 74 years old.
The sad news was confirmed by Clark's official Facebook page.
While no cause of death has been announced, Clark stopped touring in 2012 due to declining health.
It is believed that the artist behind 13 studio albums had been diagnosed with cancer.
Although a native of Texas, Clark was considered a songwriting fixture in Nashville for more than four decades.
He worked with such legends as Johnny Cash, Ricky Skaggs and Vince Gill and will be best remembered for songs such as "Homegrown Tomatoes," "Desperados Waiting for a Train" and "L.A. Freeway."

Over the past 10 years, Clark was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame and recognized with a Lifetime Achievement Award for songwriting by the Americana Music Association.
