Georgia mom Jessica Kirkland, whose open letter about Anna Duggar went viral on Facebook this week, says she wasn't trying to cause a stir.
Nor was she trying to become an Internet celebrity, or capitalize on Anna's trevails for personal gain; Kirkland just felt she needed to speak out.
She almost didn't do so, though. What nearly stopped her?
"I had a moment thinking, 'Maybe I shouldn't post it,'" Kirkland said. "I'm from Georgia, I have a lot of friends and family who are devout Christians."
Upon seeing her post spread rapidly and accrue nearly 250,000 shares and half a million Likes, "I have to admit I was tickled," she concedes.
But her goal was not to get famous, or attack Christianity.
Rather, her open letter to Anna Duggar was inspired by a desire to fight the restraints imposed by communities on young women, even in 2015.
Kirkland said she wanted to counter the notion that "you need to be a certain way in order to meet a standard your community demands of you."
In less PC terminology, she's anti-Duggar family cult.
She also said it was weighing on her mind, and heart, to the point there "I banged it out in two minutes on my couch. It came out in a fury."
"I closed my laptop and went to bed. It wasn't so much as a calculated effort to go viral, certainly. It was just something that I was thinking about."
"It needed to get out, and I needed to say it."
"I just couldn't stop thinking about Anna," she adds. "I hope the message stands alone. I want girls to know their worth and accept nothing less."
Given the recent news that Anna is permanently and fully committed to Josh, in spite of everything he's done, she felt someone had to say it.
In response, the mother of two girls, ages 6 and 2, pleaded with fellow parents to raise their daughters to have self-respect above all else.
"Anna Duggar was crippled by her parents by receiving no education, having no work experience (or life experience, for that matter)," she wrote.
"Anna Duggar was taught that her sole purpose in life, the most meaningful thing, was to be chaste and proper, a devout wife, and a mother."
"Then was shackled to this loser because his family was famous in their religious circle," she says of Josh and the 19 Kids & Counting clan.
While Josh is in rehab, and most definitely a loser, and Anna is miserable, no one realistically thinks she will break free of this awfulness.
Says Kirkland, "I feel for her. I feel like she's living in an environment where she can't do that... she feels like she doesn't have the option."
