America's Got Talent Results: The Final Six >>Hollywood

Diposting oleh blog on Jumat, 07 September 2012

And then there were six on America's Got Talent.

In case you missed last night's unusual Thursday results show for President Obama's DNC speech or the MTV Video Music Awards, read on for the rundown of who remains and who was sent packing...

Nick Cannon and Olate Dogs

Eliminations One - Shanice & Maurice, All That!, Lightwire Theater
In this group, Shanice & Maurice were the non-entity. They were okay, but easily forgettable. All That! did advance its visual appeal with fire and water, but I still find flaws. They are kind of like ugly Chippendales, where only a few people are willing to show a little bit of chest to win over the women's and gay men's vote.

They were also first and quickly forgotten by the fourth act performed. Lightwire Theater only had two effects I really liked: the egg break and the Matrix-style spins. It was definitely enough to overtake the other two acts.

Moving On: Lightwire Theater

Eliminations Two - Jacob Williams, David Garibaldi and His CMYK's, Sebastien "El Charro de Oro"
Jacob Williams was okay, but I think he should just be hired to be a writer for a sitcom or Saturday Night Live. David Garibaldi finally broke the performance mold of artists. His stage elements bring him to a different level than Joe Castillo, or even from The Silhouettes last season.

It’s the fact that it is actually a group all working together to form one cohesive image that makes it more dynamic. Sebastien decided to pigeon-hole himself back into his mariachi box and he lost a large chunk of America that doesn't understand Spanish. He was also quite flat and wavered. I'm sure when he grows older, he'll be an accomplished singer, but he needs to go through puberty.

Moving On: David Garibaldi and His CMYK's

Eliminations Three - Clint Carvalho and His Extreme Parrots, Olate Dogs, All Wheel Sports
In most fights about how cute an animal is, dogs generally can out-cute birds. How many bird memes do we have on the internet? I'm not denying that "kitten" is a talented parrot, but the dogs were better. I loved Ashleigh and Pudsey from Britain's Got Talent, but they've got nothing on the Olate Dogs. With the sheer number of talented dogs and passionate trainers, they are a shoo-in for the finals. All Wheel Sports crashed and the one minor mistake is enough to leave a bad taste in viewer's mouths.

Moving On: Olate Dogs

Eliminations Four - Tim Hockenberry, The Magic of Puck, The Untouchables
Tim Hockenberry was good, but I actually thought it was too simplistic. It could have been one part of a Vegas act, but in a competition like this, he needed to have a grander performance. The Magic of Puck was too much of the same; as much as I thought the Nathan Burton routine was cheesy, it was better than Puck. The Untouchables were sharp and accurate. The thing that put them over the edge was the quick change section; the trick wasn't hard, but it showed that the group has evolved from Miami All-Stars last season.

Moving On: The Untouchables

Final Eliminations
Of the final two votes, I thought that Team iLuminate was still better than Lightwire. David Garibaldi is original and dynamic. I wouldn't have minded either act to advance.

Top Two: The Untouchables, Olate Dogs
Lightwire Theater's Votes: Sharon
David Garibaldi and His CMYK's Votes: Howard, Howie

Our final six are: The Untouchables, Olate Dogs, David Garibaldi and His CMYK's, Joe Castillo, William Close, and Tom Cotter. I like the mix of art, comedy and dance. This also may be that rare season where a singer doesn't have a chance to win at all.
