Carson Daly is joining the Today Show, the NBC program announced Thursday.
He's filled in, making several guest appearances over the past several months, but now the 40-year-old is "officially joining our family," said Matt Lauer.
"This feel likes a new era of Today," said Daly, who will launch "The Orange Room," a new "social media area" where viewers can contact him.
"I'll be your digital doorman."
Daly, the host of The Voice and Last Call with Carson Daly, acknowledged that people "associate me with nighttime, but I'm really a morning person."
He's certainly becoming the unsung face of the entire network at this rate.
"I feel like I've been adopted by the first family. I just want to say how grateful I am," he said. "This is a family and for you guys to open it up to me, thank you so much."
Sitting with Lauer, Savannah Guthrie, Al Roker, Natalie Morales, Hoda Kotb, Willie Geist and Kathie Lee Gifford, Daly cracked, "This feels like an intervention."
He also called Today "TRL for grownups." Pretty much. Except we don't recall the embattled host of TRL getting the co-host fired
