Robin Thicke and Paula Patton "broke up," back in February, but now the very public nature of their separation and his attempts to get back in his wife's good graces are raising questions as to whether the whole thing is simply a stunt cooked up by Thicke's PR team.
Earlier this week, Thicke debuted the video for his new single entitled - you guessed it! - "Get Her Back," from the album called simply - you guessed it again! - Paula.
Not only did Thicke's troubled love life help the singer secure a spot in the headlines right in the midst of his post-"Blurred Lines" career slump, he seemed to churn out an album's worth of content devoted to his estranged wife in remarkably quick fashion.
Skeptics are likening the Thicke-Patton separation to Justin Bieber's stolen laptop stunt, which proved to be simply a gimmick designed to help Bieber promote his single "Beauty and a Beat."
Even if the couple's marital woes are legit, we imagine Thicke himself would admit that the timing is rather suspect.
Tabloids have claimed that the final straw for Patton was Thicke's now-notorious duet with Miley Cyrus at the MTV Video Music Awards:
But if that's the case, why did Patton wait almost six months after the performance to take her leave of Thicke?
In any event, Patton and Thicke have been married for nearly ten years and they have a son who just turned 4 in April.
For the sake of all involved, we actually hope the separation and Robin's desperate attempts to save his family are all part of some elaborate hoax.
