Four months after the tragic death of Joan Rivers, the late comedian's daughter has filed a multi-million dollar lawsuit against Yorkville Endoscopy and the physicians who performed surgery on Joan prior to her September passing.
According to legal documents, Melissa Rivers alleges gross medical malpractice, stating that doctors didn't perform a tracheotomy on the star, who stopped breathing after undergoing an unplanned biopsy.
Reads a section of the lawsuit:
"The level of medical mismanagement, incompetency, disrespect and outrageous behavior is shocking and frankly, almost incomprehensible. Not only did my mother deserve better, every patient deserves better."
Not long after Joan's death, rumors spread that one of her doctors actually snapped a selfie with the Rivers while she lay unconscious on his table.
This incident is also mentioned in the filing.
"Had doctors acted as physicians for Joan Rivers instead of groupies, Joan Rivers would have been doing Fashion Police last week," Melissa's lawyer, Jeffrey Bloom, told The New York Daily News, which was first to write about the lawsuit.
In October, the New York City Medical Examiner's Office reported that Joan Rivers died at the age of 81 following a throat biopsy, which caused her to stop breathing for good.
But the issue of malpractice has been broached before, with insiders even claiming last fall that the Medical Examiner's Office was helping to cover up for the doctors' illegal behavior.

"Filing this lawsuit was one of the most difficult decisions I've ever had to make," Melissa Rivers says via statement. "What ultimately guided me was my unwavering belief that no family should ever have to go through what my mother, Cooper and I have been through.
"The level of medical mismanagement, incompetency, disrespect and outrageous behavior is shocking and frankly, almost incomprehensible. Not only did my mother deserve better, every patient deserves better. It is my goal to make sure that this kind of horrific medical treatment never happens to anyone again."
