Even Derick Dillard expected to see Jill Duggar in labor by now, and can be forgiven for that false alarm last week ... because she's now 11 days past due!
She's been pregnant 41 weeks, four days and counting. See baby bump photo:
The typical pregnancy is 40 weeks long, and a great deal don't even make it to that. On the flip side, many first-time parents are late with their inaugural offspring.
In many of those cases, the mother-to-be would consider inducing labor.
Not Jill. The midwife in training is planning a natural birth and personally moved her due date back two weeks, unofficially, because she's in no hurry.
Her husband Derick seems cool with that, albeit a little anxious.
"Still waiting to meet our little guy," he captioned the above pic.
"Maybe we'll have an Easter baby! #jillmdillard #babydilly"
Nope. #BabyDilly is taking his sweet time up in there.
Jill, 23, who also goes by Jill Dillard, and Derick, 26, will have a boy this month, and he will be the fourth grandchild for Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar.
Their fifth grandchild, Josh and Anna Duggar's fourth baby, is also due this year. That's likely it for 2015 unless Ben Seewald got Jessa Duggar pregnant.
For now, we can only wait. And for Jill and Derick Dillard, every day brings them closer to the miracle of starting a family, and brings them closer together.
"I can't even describe right now the anticipation I am feeling, as I am about to get to meet my firstborn son for the first time face to face," Dillard wrote Friday.
"So many people have already testified that nothing can quite describe that moment and that I'll just have to experience it for myself."
"Now that I'm about to be a dad, I find it quite interesting that Jesus related the end of the world to the event of birth," Jill's husband of nearly a year added.
"And it's easy to relate to because as much as Jill and I want to know when this birth will happen, the day and the hour of baby dilly's birth is definitely unknown."
The Arkansas natives grew up within 45 minutes of each other, but didn't meet until late 2011. Jill recalled when Derick stopped by while caroling with a church group, and not long after, "Derick contacted my dad and asked if he would be a prayer partner during his two-year term in Nepal."
Jim Bob Duggar took Derick under his wing indeed, and gradually started talking about his daughter Jill to him ... and him to her throughout the next year or so.
"The first time Jill and I spoke was over the phone in a brief conversation we had back in March 2013," Derick recalls. Added Jill, "Derick called my dad to give him an update and pray together and I happened to walk in the room."
In February 2014, Derick got permission from Jim Bob Duggar (seen here with wife Michelle, their other daughter Jessa Duggar and her boyfriend Ben Seewald) to marry Jill. Very traditional.
Wedding preparations are usually stressful for couples. For Jill and Derick, it was just another excuse to be together and register for some interesting items.
After they exchanged vows, they also kissed for the first time. The couple proudly waited until marriage for any physical affection beyond hand-holding and side hugs.
