Oops. Lena Dunham's bad.
Following a Saturday Night Live skit in which the Girls star appeared naked in a parody of Adam and Eve, a critic on Twitter told Dunham she doesn't "always have to get naked," to which the actress replied:
"Please tell that to my uncle, mister. He's been making me!"
Dunham recently stood by Dylan Farrow and defended sexual assault victims, making the joke even more surprising and off-key.
She acknowledged both these points via a follow-up apology.
"I just made and deleted a not so great molestation joke. Sorry guys. I am really sleepy," Dunham wrote.
"SNL has a way bigger audience than our usual cozy girls audience, so I was seeing a rash of very different kinds of twitter rage. But I should know better, and do. Even naked girls get embarrassed. Sleep well and thanks for an amazing weekend."
Dunham has been asked about her penchant for nudity often over the years and is clearly sick of the topic.
But she did have a great time hosting SNL.
"Cannot overstate how joyful this experience has been," the native New York Tweeted yestreday. "I have always loved you Saturday Night Live, but now I am IN love with you."
