Duke University freshman Miriam Weeks, a.k.a. Belle Knox, says her parents are not upset by the fact that she took a side job as a porn star to pay tuition.
Weeks, 18, denied a report that her Army doctor dad was heartbroken when he found out about her side job upon returning from deployment in Afghanistan.
"My parents aren't upset," Weeks told the New York Daily News in between filming scenes for an upcoming adult film. "I want my family left out of it."
"If people criticize me that's one thing, but leave my family alone."
The young woman who goes by Belle Knox on screen said she was "really, really upset" over a Daily Mail article that identified her parents, who live in Spokane, Wash.
Amanda Minor, the alleged mother-in-law of Miriam's brother Paul, was quoted as saying of their parents, "They're heartbroken, but it's not irreparable."
Weeks, however, says that she's never even met Minor in her life.
"That lady doesn't know what she's talking about," Weeks said.
Before she was the Duke porn star, the youngest of three college-aged kids was an A student at Gonzaga Prep, a private school her parents paid $11,000 a year for.
Asked about her family's reaction to her doing a variety of hardcore skin flicks to pay her $50,000-plus annual tuition at Duke, she clammed up.

"I'm not going to talk at all about my family," Weeks said.
Clearly a sore subject, and understandably so, although she also rebutted claims that she went into porn because her parents cut her off financially.
"My family never cut me off," the 18-year-old insisted.
She reiterated that she turned to porn to pay her tuition. "I didn't feel like I had a lot of options," said Weeks, who earns $1,500 to $2,000 per adult film.
The petite brunette, who was outed by a fellow student, is majoring in women's studies. She said she plans to be a women's rights or civil rights lawyer.
