In the outside world, the nickname "Princess Teresa" may not seem to suit Teresa Giudice and her table-tossing ways, but the inmates of Danbury Correctional Institution think the royal moniker fits like a glove.
Thus far, everything we've heard about Teresa's life in prison indicates that she's not receiving special treatment.
Teresa earns 12 cents an hour working in the laundry room; she lives in a small "dorm" with three other inmates; and she's been forced to abandon small creature comforts like hair extensions.
But just as one former prisoner predicted, Teresa is being targeted by other inmates who feel that she's being favored by the Danbury staff.
"They don't like her because the think she gets special treatment," one insider tells In Touch. "She'll get a job in the kitchen when other inmates are told there are no openings. She gets to eat before the main line at lunch and dinner."
But what apparently angered the other inmates most of all was when Teresa received a visit from her family last week.
"Her kids were approved for visits the day she arrived," the source claims.
Some inmates have reportedly been forced to wait months to have their guest lists approved, and the fact that Teresa's received the immediate OK (even though her husband is a convicted felon) is said to have created quite an uproar.
But while most of her fellow prisoners seem to have turned against Teresa, she's reportedly managed to make a handful of friends.
"She's met some women who are acting nice to her, but she knows to watch her back," the insider claims. "Teresa talks to quite a few women now, mainly the women who teach the exercise classes and her roommates."
"She was dancing with them the other day and asked them to teach her how to twerk. They thought it was funny."
We like Teresa's new philosophy: If you can't beat 'em, twerk with 'em.
