19 Kids and Counting star Derick Dillard is courting some rare controversy after his recent attempt to run over an orange cat with a sled in snowy Arkansas.
It's not as bad as that makes it sound, really, but you can see for yourself:
Dillard, whose wife Jill Duggar is expecting the couple's first child any day now, posted a video of him "sledding with friends and family at the Duggar home."
The clip shows the 25-year-old dad-to-be, on a "sled" that looks like a pizza tray, getting a push down the hill from Jessa Duggar's husband Ben Seewald.
Derick Dillard calls out, "Move, cat," as he goes careening towards an orange feline directly in his path. He appears to collide with said cat at decent speed.
Assorted Duggar family members cheer and laugh as the cat bounces off his sled and slides down the hill. It did not appear to be hurt by the impact.
Nevertheless, some 19 Kids and Counting fans weren't too impressed.
"Not sure why you thought it would be funny to hit a cat and then post it on Instagram," wrote one commenter, stating the obvious pretty matter of factly.
"How is this even funny?" asked another Instagram user, adding, "I would think you would have some respect for all God's creatures. What a shame."
It's unclear if this particular creature belonged to the Duggars or someone else, but the last time the family made cat-related headlines was very different.
Matriarch Michelle Duggar memorably wrote on her TLC blog about the family discovering kittens trapped under an insulation wall in their home.
"We didn't want to leave the kittens out in the open because there are wild animals near the woods that might've eaten them," the mother of 19 wrote.
"And even if they did survive we were pretty sure that they would become feral. So we decided to bring them home where we have two older kittens."
"The kittens were just a week old, so at first I stayed up all night feeding them. At that point they were so small that we had to keep the youngest kids away."
Under the careful supervision of Jessa Duggar, the younger Duggars bottle-fed the kittens and did their best to provide them a safe, loving home.
We're sure Derick didn't intend to hurt anything and likely assumed it would get out of the way (cats are agile critters) but he may not want to do this again.
At least the part where he posts a video of it to social media afterward. Cats do rule the web, after all. Their online defenders will come at you hard.
Jessa Duggar and her then-boyfriend Ben Seewald began courting controversy almost from the moment they started dating, posing for photos like this one - a picture that now seems tame considering what they've been stirring up more recently.
The plight of maligned, put-upon sister Jana Duggar has hit home with fans in recent months, with 19 Kids and Counting episodes showing her doting on Jessa and Ben, and amid rumors that she is not allowed to marry because Jim Bob and Michelle force her to take care of all the younger kids.
Ben Seewald's Facebook page is again a source of controversy. Jessa Duggar's boyfriend found himself the target of a barrage of criticism after psting a status update in which he criticized Catholicism.
Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard have entered into an extreme sort of marriage. Under the terms of a "covenant marriage," it's almost impossible to get a divorce.
Jim Bob Duggar of 19 Kids and Counting doesn't just not believe in using birth control, he feels it's something that actually causes miscarriages and abortions.
A guest at the wedding of Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald claims the newlyweds were caught having sex at their own wedding reception. The guest has called the couple out on her blog.
Jessa Duggar took a trip to the Creation Museum in Kentucky recently. Unfortunately, she then shared her version of scientific facts with her many Instagram followers.
Michelle Duggar expressed her shocking views on the the transgender community in a recent audio recording. The Duggar matriarch conflates transgender people with sexual predators.
Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar have asked married couples to post photos of themselves kissing to the family's Facebook page. They've been accused of deleting photos from gay and interracial couples.
The future of 19 Kids and Counting may be in question. A petition written with the goal of having the show taken off the air has now received 123,000 signatures.
The Duggar family is a symbol for wholesome family values. However, several former cult members have now come forward to claim the Duggars are involved in something far more dangerous than they realize.
Susanna Keller, the sister of Anna Duggar, is reportedly being shunned by the famous family for getting pregnant outside of wedlock, according to reports.
