Shocking, we know. But we finally have some good news to report concerning The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' Kim Richards.
Kim Richards has been sober for over 30 days!! That's such great news!
The former childhood star has opened up about her arrest, struggle with sobriety, and departure from RHOBH.
Richards told Entertainment Tonight, "I love sobriety. "I've always loved sobriety, and relapsing was very hard for me. It was not easy."
She added, "I have to say, don't take this wrong, but I really wanted to go to treatment because I needed a break from what I was going through at home."
The former Bravo celebrity said that family stress was the biggest contributor to her relapse.
"Monty, my ex-husband, is very sick and my son wasn't well," Richards disclosed to ET. "And I had to give away my dog, and I wasn't talking to my sister [Kyle]."
Kim had to get rid of her pit bull Kingsley after the dog bit Kyle's 19-year-old daughter, Alexia. The dog attack instigated a hellish feud that resurfaced other deeply seeded issues between the sisters.
From there, Kim's problems spiraled out of control. On April 16, Richards was arrested at the Beverly Hills Hotel for public intoxication, battery, and resisting arrest.
Shortly after, she checked into rehab. However, her rehabilitation was interrupted by her daughter's wedding.
Kim checked out of rehab to attend her daughter's nuptials. Once the wedding festivities ended, no one could find Kim. She temporarily went missing, and Kim refused to check back into rehab.
Richards claims this was a learning experience for her. "Actually, my arrest was my 'Aha, I get to go away now and rest and take a break from all this,'" Richards said.
"I don't want anybody to take this wrong, but I truly needed a break from hospitals, family, the pressure. I needed to go away."
Last month, sources claimed that Richards will not be on the next season of RHOBH. Paris and Nicky HIlton's aunt was on the show for five years.
But Bravo producers are worried about Kim's health and the serious problems she could cause on the show.
A source disclosed, "The RHOBH producers really have no interest in bringing her back to the show. Kim needs to get help and it needs to happen outside of the show."
Kim claims that rumors of her departure from the show are untrue. Richards said, "My representative did speak to them. They have asked me to come back."
Richards has completed rehab and has been sober for more than 30 days. "I went in and I got to learn a whole lot about myself," she stated.
"I dug deep into my past, things that happened to me as a child, good and bad, teenage years, relationships with all my loved ones, where they need to be mended, where they're very powerful. I worked on me."
She even skipped Nicky Hilton's recent London wedding to work on her sobriety. "I decided to stay in treatment," she shared.
So maybe, if she stays clean, Bravo will take her back.
As for her strained relationship with Kyle, she said, "I've talked to her a couple of times when she's been in France and London."
"She came to Brooke's wedding. And that was actually the first time I had seen her in six to seven months. So that was a little hard."
Really, could Bravo pass up that drama???
