Kitty Wells, dubbed by many as the "Queen of Country Music," died this morning from complications of a stroke. She was 92.
The artist struck is big in 1952 with "It Wasn't God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels."
In all, she totaled 35 top 10 hits on the country charts - including "Making Believe" and "Mommy For a Day" - and continued to tour all the way up until 2000.
Wells was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1976 and received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Grammys in 1991.
Current stars such as Taylor Swift, Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood have all cited Wells as a major influence eon their careers, with Swift Tweeting upon hearing this sad news:
1st female country superstar Kitty Wells dies. Without Kitty Wells, there might be no Taylor Swift.”
