Ellen DeGeneres turns 55 today. Happy birthday to the beloved host!
Prior to launching the hugely successful and popular Ellen DeGeneres Show, the actress wrote and starred on scripted comedies Ellen and The Ellen Show.
The hugely funny comedian has won 13 Emmys and numerous other awards for her work in television and charitable efforts throughout her career.
She famously came out publicly as a lesbian in an appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show in 1997, long before such announcements were commonplace.
DeGeneres has hosted the Primetime Emmys and Academy Awards and even judged American Idol for one season. She's got great dance moves too.
Basically, she's seen and done it all. And we're better for it.
