Harry Reems, the porn star who appeared opposite Linda Lovelace in 1972's groundbreaking film Deep Throat, died of pancreatic cancer Tuesday.
He was 65 years old.

Reems' passing was confirmed to The New York Times. His wife, Jeanne, said that her husband's health had been in decline for some time.
Born Herbert Streicher in New York City, Reems first tried to break into the entertainment world as a stage actor via off-Broadway productions.
When that bid didn't pan out, he sidetracked into porn.
Deep Throat's release proved to be a watershed moment for the industry in the '70s, as the film became a mainstream, $600 million-grossing sensation.
The fallout from the film's controversy, however, was just as notorious. Reems was convicted in 1976 of conspiracy to distribute obscenity across state lines.
His high-profile trial earned Reems the support of stars like Warren Beatty and Jack Nicholson, and the decision was overturned a year later.
He estimates he starred in at least 300 porn movies.
After leaving porn behind, Reems struggled with alcoholism before sobering up in 1989, turning to religion, getting married and becoming a real-estate agent.
Reems' death comes two months after a fictionalized big-screen retelling of the making of Deep Throat,
