Well, this at least explains why Jay Leno is hating on NBC so much these days.
For the second time in a couple weeks, a report states that the network will not resign The Tonight Show host when his contract expires next year, setting the stage for Jimmy Fallon to take over the iconic program.
Moreover, according to The New York Times, Fallon will move The Tonight Show to New York.
The show has not aired in Big Apple since it debuted with Steve Allen in 1954.
Nearly 20 years later, in 1972, Johnny Carson moved it to Burbank, California and that's where it has remained ever since.
As he's being pushed out to make room for a younger host, Leno has spent the week bitterly taking shots at NBC executives.
"According to several reports, scientists say they are getting closer and closer to being able to do Jurassic Park-style cloning of extinct species," he told his audience last night. "Imagine that. Things that were once thought to be extinct could be brought back from the dead. So there's hope for NBC. It could turn around."
Yes, these are the kinds of jokes Jay Leno makes. So we ask: Are you excited for Fallon to host The Tonight Show?
