CBS viewers have already met the Mother.

Are they ready to learn all about the Father?

According to Deadline sources, network executives have begun negotiations with How I Met Your Mother creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas to spin their beloved sitcom off after it wraps up Season 9 in May.

The new series would be titled How I Met Your Father and it would center on a new group of friends, one of whom is a woman telling her kids all about how she fell for their dad.

These new characters would be introduced on the HIMYM finale and the new show would also use McLaren's Pub as a hang-out.

Spinoffs, of course, are all the rage these days. There's The Originals and Ravenswood and there's already plans in the works for a Walking Dead spinoff. We may also see NCIS: New Orleans and The CW is considering a Supernatural spinoff.
