Ryan Gosling cooked, cleaned and grocery shopped for Eva Mendes in the early months of her pregnancy, and now it seems there were reasons for his servitude that went beyond the fact that he's a stand-up guy.
The couple kept the news that Mendes is pregnant out of the tabloids for an astonishing seven months, and according to reports, having Ryan run all the errands was an important part of keeping Eva's baby bump under wraps.
"Their lives completely changed as soon as Eva got pregnant," a source tells People magazine. "They used to travel all over the place together and go on hikes with their dogs."
As soon as Mendes began showing, however, she reportedly holed up in Gosling's LA apartment and "barely left the house."
Ryan waited on Eva hand and foot during this difficult time and aside from a few suspicious instances (such as when Eva was a no-show at the Cannes Film Festival where her and Gosling's film, Lost River, premiered) the couple seamlessly pulled off one of the great celeb cover-ups in recent memory.
As for whether Ryan will marry Eva after the baby is born, given how secretive these two have been in the past, if it happens, we probably won't hear about it until well after the fact.
