Kristen Stewart covers the latest issue of Elle, and she does so in an unsurprising manner;
Without a smile on her face.
The highly-paid actress has acquired a reputation for always being serious in public, but she says she won't be changing her ways any time soon. She can only imagine the flak she'd receive if she ever did.
"If I smiled for a paparazzi photo - not that I ever would - that's exactly what people would be desecrating me for," Stewart explains. "They'd be like, 'now you're going to give it up, now you're a sellout.' Like... What do you want? What would you like?"
While lamenting how she can't really ever win in this regard, Stewart does say she has a strategy for her career: Have no strategy for a career!
"Never at any point have I sat down and plotted how I should proceed from here on," she says. "As soon as you start thinking about your career as a trajectory... you're never doing anything for yourself anyway. Then you're truly, actually, specifically working for the public. You're turning yourself into a bag of chips."
Proving just how far removed she is from her time as one half of Robsten, Kristen is never asked about Robert Pattinson by the magazine.
But the Twilight Saga does come up.
"The day the movie came out there was a picture of me - in the New York Post, I think," she says. "I was sitting on my front porch, smoking a pipe with my ex-boyfriend and dog. And I was like, Oh sh-t, well, I have to be aware of that."
Indeed, can you imagine the celebrity gossip hullabaloo that would arise now if there were Kristen Stewart photos out there of the star smoking a pipe?
