For reasons that defy comprehension, NBC announced yesterday that Craig T. Nelson will reprise his role as Hayden Fox in a rebooted version of the sitcom Coach.
13 episodes of the program have already been ordered by the Peacock network.
They will find Fox returning to the sidelines after an 18-year absence in order to serve as the assistant coach to his son, who is now leading an Ivy League university in Pennsylvania.
The original series ran for nine seasons on ABC from 1989 to 1997, chronicling the head coach of the fictional Minnesota State University Screaming Eagles as he balanced football and family.
It was pretty popular. But it's unclear whether a single viewer was clamoring for some kind of sequel to the sitcom.
Earlier this week, Fox announced that The X-Files will return as a six-episode limited event series; while NBC will also air Heroes Reborn in the near future.
Like we said: television is officially out of fresh ideas.
It still makes us angry to think about. We finally met the mother. We fell in love with the mother. And then the show killed off the mother, broke up Barney and Robin and stuck Ted with Robin, all in a matter of a few closing (AWFUL!) minutes.
It was boring AND predictable. There was no reason for FX to air what amounted to a full-length movie, just to have Jax do what we could all see coming weeks before the finale aired.
Wait... what was the side world again?!? The only thing we know for sure about how Lost ended is that the writers had no plan for it until the last second.
So much for the notion of loving whomever you want to love: Bill killed himself and Sookie ended up with some random human. A series that celebrated the differences in people went out as a total and complete hypocrite.
